Silent Hill 5 its coming..........

Silent Hill 5 will feature an entirely new plot, and will follow Alex Shepard as he searches for his missing father and brother. The game begins with Alex in a veteran’s hospital recovering from a near fatal wound. After having a premonition that his younger brother is in danger, Alex leaves the hospital for his home in New England. Alex’s military background will play into the story and the gameplay, but the developer states that the game will not take a political stance, it only confronts the horrors of the protagonist’s psychological state.

The grain filter will return to Silent Hill 5, and it will be joined by others that will create debris and cracks on the screen to change the mood and atmosphere of the game. The Havok engine will also be used to realistically recreate object physics. When the player bumps into something, it will react accordingly and can even make noise to attract enemies. Unlike previous Silent Hill games, the player will be able to control the camera with the right stick.

Boss battles will be returning and The Collective mentioned that they’re looking to create Zelda-esque encounters. Multiple endings will be back as well, but this time around they won’t focus so much on single events, but rather the player’s actions throughout the game and how the player interacts with other characters.

Silent Hill 5 is also taking some cues from the Silent Hill movie. Like in the movie, the transition between the two worlds will occur in real time with the paint peeling away, or bursting into flesh covered walls. The game will also follow the movie’s lead with regard to enemies and will use motion capture to create their animations. The enemies will also have visible effects on them like boils and pustules that are animated and react when the player attacks. Look for more news on Silent Hill 5 as it nears its release sometime next year.
